Dilan Polat and her husband Engin Polat, who were arrested on charges of money laundering and tax evasion, were taken into custody along with their family members after the investigation by MASAK. In the midst of these developments, investigations into 600 social media influencers are still ongoing.
During this turbulent period, citizens began reporting the suspicious activities of the influencers they follow. By tagging relevant units via social media, citizens are making some social media influencers come to the forefront and become visible.
As citizens closely monitor these social media celebrities, new developments occur every day, leading to the question of “what will I get in return if I report?”
Do those who report tax evasion receive any compensation? Lawyer Burak Evci answered this question, stating: “Those who report tax evasion receive a reward if their report is accurate. They can receive 10% of the tax base rate as a reward. One-third of this reward is paid upfront, and the remaining two-thirds is paid to the individuals once the state’s tax is collected.”
