Maden Tragedy Repeats in Maden Village 7 Years Later
In the mine owned by Etibakır exploration company, a subsidiary of Cengiz Holding, in the village of Maden in the district, 16 people lost their lives in a mining tragedy on November 17, 2016. After 7 years, a collapse occurred at the copper mine at 01:25 in the mine, and the cause of the collapse has not yet been determined; Zekai Can Calık, Emre Gökduman, and Orhan Gültekin lost their lives, while 2 people were taken to the hospital injured.
After the autopsy process, the body of Orhan Gültekin, who was taken over by his family, was buried in the Zevye Cemetery in the city center. It was stated that the funerals of Emre Gökduman and Zekai Can Çalık would be sent to Izmir and Giresun, respectively. The treatments of the 2 injured workers have been completed. Siirt Chief Public Prosecutor Tuğan Sarıc went to the scene within the framework of the investigation initiated. In the written statement, it was stated that a comprehensive investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the judicial proceedings of the detained Y.K., A.T., and D.A. are ongoing.
